A rough plan of the story I want to tell through my audio, allowing me to figure out what sounds I need to record and how I need to edit in terms of pacing and time management. This also acts as a checklist to ensure I have recorded everything I need.
Video
My initial storyboard of the sort of shots I wanted to film, I wanted very wide shots which captured the life of the area, portraying its emptiness or busyness. I also wanted to capture contrasts in the City of London, with its many historical buildings and architecture opposing the modern glass offices built in the area.
I decided to use a voice-over narration of a few words to add meaning and purpose to my video. My choice of words is deliberately ominous and ambiguous, leaving the interpretation up to each individual viewer.
I drew the title on procreate to be able to have more freedom in the colouring and design of the title, so it could fit perfectly in the designated space and match the background colour scheme. I took the red colour from the bus stop sign and the yellow-beige from the buildings.Picture of my final edited video. In terms of recoloring, I increased the contrast and darkness, added warmth, and increased the saturation, allowing me to make the videos appear more vivid and vibrant, allowing contrasts to be starker.
Writing
Initial ideas mindmap.
“In between, not alone but still lonely, not an adult but not a child, not at home but can’t go anywhere else.” This passage I wrote in my early planning became the main inspiration for my creative writing, as each of the mini-stories in my creative writing represented one of the phrases with each character being ‘in-between’.
Image of Paternoster Square.
Whilst I was out filming and recording for my other elements, I spent some time sitting and people-watching in Paternoster square, as people walked to offices, chatted with friends, ate lunch on a bench, and so on. The people I saw there that day are also an inspiration for the characters in my writing and are where the story takes place.

I chose a simplistic theme and dark layout to reflect the empty feeling that comes with being ‘in between’, feelings of loss, hopelessness, confusion and sadness. The font being a light grey adds to the aspect of confusion and lack of clarity as the website (and therefore feeling in between) isn’t black and white.
